Hair Woes

new-fb-smilingYou can find some really stupid advice on the internet.  Lol.  I sweat in my head when I run.  Profusely.   My hair can be soaked when I’m done – especially after long runs, and especially now that it’s summer and hot.  Why is this a problem?  I have a relaxer in my hair.  To keep it healthy, I minimize the heat that I put in it – this includes blow dryers and curling irons.  This doesn’t work out so well if I’m running four times a week, and have to leave my house before noon for work.  Lol.

I already know what I need to do to handle this – cornrow my hair and put in braids or a weave.  But I thought I would check the Internet and see what advice they had for relaxed girls.

Everything I read was all relatively unhelpful – put your hair in a ponytail; wear a wrap scarf – those things don’t really work for heavy duty workouts.  But then I came across this nugget of wisdom:  switch up your workout routine.  Try walking or something else where you don’t work up too much of a sweat.

Seriously?  Just switch up?  Do something that doesn’t have you sweat as much.  Got it!  Lol.  Ok – I’ll try that and let you know how it works out.

By the way – is it paradoxical that I’m running a marathon to raise funds for a worthy cause and I’m stressing about my hair????  No, right?  I didn’t think so either.  Lol!

  1. I’m with you, but I’ve known girls in the past that literally didn’t exercise so they wouldn’t mess up their hair, lol. Out of shape with nice hair was just never an option for me, but I stopped getting relaxers several years ago. I know it’s tough, good luck, and good luck with marathon training!
